We can set you up with FREE soft racks for your vehicle to carry up to 6 surfboards if you need them.
You can hit some of the most consistent surf beaches on Auckland’s east coast: Te Arai, Forestry, Mangawhai, Langs, Waipu, and some secret spots.
Pickup Times:
- You can pickup your equipment during the following times at either Te Arai or Mangawhai Heads
- You can return your equipment anytime afterhours in our rental return area so you can surf until dark!
- Pickups between May & Sep on Sundays are by prearranged phone order +64 9 4315760, or online bookings only.

- Free use of our soft racks and tie downs: suitable for any vehicle and designed to carry 6 surfboards or 4 paddle-boards or 2 kayaks. Very easy to set up and use.

- Hire online, over the phone for both locations. Te Arai also instore bookings available
- Come to your booked location Te Arai or Mangawhai Heads
- We will set you up with everything you need.
- Get out surfing and have a fantastic day!
- Return your equipment to our rental returns at the end of your hire period
- Sat or Sun between May - Sep you need to book over the phone or online in advance.

We offer surfboard, paddleboard (SUP), kayak, and wetsuit hire for all ages and abilities. You can rent soft-top beginner boards, high-performance boards, longboards, bodyboards, and full-length wetsuits — everything you need for a great day in the water.
All rentals are available from our Aotearoa Surf Shop & HQ, located at 11 Te Arai Point Road, Te Arai, or from our Surf Lodge in Mangawhai, 299 Molesworth Drive.
If we are operating at Omaha or Orewa, hire can also be arranged there by request.
Yes. We have the perfect boards for first-time surfers and beginners, and our team will help you choose the right size and shape for your ability. We’ll even give you a quick safety and setup briefing before you hit the water.
You can hire for 1 hour, half a day, a full day, or multiple days. Multi-day, weekly, or even monthly rates are available for longer stays or surf trips.
Walk-ins are welcome at Te Arai, but we recommend booking ahead during weekends, holidays, and summer months to make sure your preferred board or wetsuit size is available.
Mangawhai Surf Lodge hire is available by online or phone bookings only.
We recommend bringing swimwear, a towel, a water bottle, snacks if needed, and sunscreen.
Yes. We hire to schools, corporate groups, and large parties. Discounts are available for bulk or multi-day rentals.

Yes. You can take equipment to nearby beaches such as Te Arai, Forestry, Mangawhai, Omaha, or Orewa. Just handle the gear with care and ensure it’s returned in good condition and on time.
If surf or weather conditions are unsafe, we’ll happily reschedule, extend your hire period, or offer a credit or refund. Your safety and enjoyment are always our priority.
