Our Ultimate Kids’ Surf camp is an all-inclusive kids’ camp that’ll get your kids riding waves and give them the experience of a lifetime. It is the perfect action / adventure holiday for kids aged 8 – 15 (grouped by ages). Each day they will get to enjoy daily surf lessons as well as a whole host of other exciting activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, volleyball, yoga, a waterslide and confidence course.
They will also have all the fun of camp style accommodation, campfires and BBQs. All equipment is provided by Aotearoa Surf.

Our camps aim to not only give kids the chance to learn a new skill, but the opportunity to gain confidence in both social settings and in the ocean
Everything Is Included
From transport to the camp, from Auckland, or Albany, to meals, accommodation, activities, equipment… even sunscreen, we’ve thought of everything and included it in your camp fee. We will provide your kids with fun filled days, packed with activities, that are carefully supervised and appropriate for their age and ability. We make sure that we serve nutritious meals and that our dorm accommodation is always comfortable.
Location
80 minutes north of Auckland. Mangawhai’s beach and harbour has everything a great kids’ camp needs, from great surf to safe swimming. We’ll be camping at Moirs Point camp, with awesome views over the Mangawhai Harbour.
Transport
Pickup and drop off service from Auckland to Mangawhai OR parents are welcome to drop off / pick up from camp.

Surfing
Surf lessons twice a day will take place at Mangawhai Heads Beach or Te Arai Beach, ensuring every participant is progressing and gaining ocean and surfing confidence. All equipment is provided by Aotearoa Surf.
Activities
At the camp, which is right on the water, we’ll be paddle boarding and kayaking or be on the confidence course, waterslide, playing soccer, rugby or volleyball. At night, activities will include a camp-fire, movies, burma trail, night swim, BBQ & more.
Accommodation
We offer fun, dorm style accommodation grouped by ages and genders. Campers can choose to be in the same room as friends.
Meals
Nutritious meals and unlimited fruit are provided. All dietary requirements such as vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free can be catered for. Please contact in advance to let us know about any allergies or special dietary requirements.
Safety Assured
Aotearoa Surf has been operating since 2002 (20 years +) with an exceptional safety record. We’re Surfing NZ & Water Safety approved for surfing and paddle boarding and have a fully qualified and experienced team. We operate a target 1:6-8 surfer ratio – one instructor per 6-8 children dependent on age and ability.
Our surf instructors are highly trained and also surf lifesaving awarded, first aid certified. Our team has a lot of experience managing youth surf camps and large groups.

- All equipment is supplied, however, kids are welcome to bring their own surfboard and wetsuit if they wish

The Ultimate Kids’ Camp Surf Competition
On the Thursday of camp, we’ll run a surf competition, with prizes and giveaways. Parents & caregivers are invited to come and support their child and check out their progress!
Competition heats (approximate times)
10am: Platino Surf Comp – 8-10 year olds
12pm: Vissla Surf Comp – 11-12 year olds
2pm: NSP Surf Comp – 13-16 year olds
Cost: $1095 per camper (all inclusive)

Whilst we are happy for you to come to the camp at any stage, from past experiences, we recommend leaving your child under our capable hands throughout the duration of the camp so that they are able to settle in and make friends.

Competition heats will run between 9:30am and 3:00pm at Te Arai Beach Reserve. We’ll send out the full details of which grom squad your camper is in and what time they will be competing/ surfing a couple of day beforehand.

Yes, during the surf lessons, we break up all children into groups of abilities. Those that are less confident in the water will be grouped together. All lessons start in knee deep water and children are properly informed on what to do should their head go under, or if they feel uncomfortable at any time.
Below is the camp schedule. Camp is split by age groups so there are separate bus times and bedtimes dependent on age as well as afternoon activities and evening activities.

We cater to all dietary requirements. Campers can expect healthy home cooked favourites suitable for 8-15 year olds (they will be hungry and we need to replenish energy levels!).
Below are some example meals that may be included during your camp:
Breakfast – Mixture of cereals, toast, fruits, yoghurts.
Lunch – DIY sandwiches with different filling options daily.
Dinner – Chicken and Rice, Nacho’s, Fish and Chips, Pizza, DIY Burgers…
Dessert – Yes, every night! Ice cream, yogurt, Fruit, Cake…
Snacks – Morning and Afternoon we have muffins, fruit, muesli bars…
No camper will go hungry and there are always second and even third helpings available!
