1. Timing is Key:

  • Watch the approaching wave and time your duck dive to coincide with the wave’s impact. Aim to dive just before the wave reaches you to minimize the force it exerts on your board.

2. Weight Distribution:

  • As the wave approaches, shift your weight forward on the board. This helps the nose to pierce through the water, making it easier to dive beneath the wave.

3. Use Your Knee:

  • Just before the wave reaches you, push down with your hands while simultaneously pushing your knee into the tail of the board. This motion helps submerge the board quickly.

4. Submerge the Nose:

  • Ensure the nose of your board is the first to go under the water. Tilt the board downward by pushing the nose beneath the surface. This action helps the wave flow over the deck of the board rather than pushing against it.

5. Arch Your Back:
